Well maybe we can use the new thread for members to be able to post Questions or Suggestions.
Mine I guess would fall under the Suggestion aspect:
The weekly "BIG BUX" contest is based on Saturday only results. Since the SIM was redesigned and races spread out over a week to prevent the bottleneck of Saturday race day, the Saturday only big results day is really a thing of the past. Perhaps we could run the "BIG BUX" contest as a week long contest with a deadline say 00:00 Sunday start and week later 00:00 Sunday finish. All contest entry results could then be posted in the thread anytime prior to 00:00 on Monday.
To limit the "BIG BUX" contest to 1 day results I think is self defeating. Most all the residence members now race throughout the week and given the opportunity I believe this would allow greater member participation in the contest and also provide a basis for more competitive competition.

I like the idea, too... but not for the whole week. The added angle of looking at the day of week when you're enterng your hot horse in considering eligibility for this contest makes the contest more interesting to play in, and also makes it harder for one horse to win it again and again and again.
However, I do find it frustrating sometimes when I can't find Saturday races to run my better horses in... How 'bout a compromise...
Maybe we could consider extending Big Bux to include all races on Saturday and Sunday? And maybe on 3-day weekends, include Monday?

Not sure how a horse could win it again and again? This is a high odds contest. If a horse wins, next race his odds are going to drop. If he wins again same result. Plus, this would be a weekly contest with more competition. Seriously doubt a horse would be able to run every 7 days, keep winning at high odds, and monopolize the contest |

I like the idea of Sat & Sun races, but not the rest of the week. Thats when the majority of races are run, so I think it makes sense.

As for other ideas, I would like to see 1 or 2 LIL races for the older horses - 4YO and up. It does not have to be alot, maybe a mile dirt and a mile turf race at the end of the year, to give our past champs another day to shine? Something like that.

I was thinking of the High Speed contest... But I still like the whole-weekend idea over the current only-Saturday rules that run now, for High Speed, Zero-Speed, AND Big Bux. The pick-three-winners contest probably would be best as a one-day contest like it is now, but the whole day, not just the afternoon races. |

IF THE PICK-THREE-WINNERS IS IN REFERENCE TO THE HORSE POOL CONTEST, WHICH HAPPENS EVERY 3 WEEKS.
THAT IS FOR ALL SATURDAY RACES. BUT YOU HAVE TO POST BY 9 AM SATURDAY - GAME / BOARD TIME
THE GAME AND THIS MESSAGE BOARD IS ON EASTERN STANDARD TIME.
AS FAR I CAN SEE - NO RACES ARE RUN EARLIER THAN 9:30 EASTERN STANDARD TIME

Well you leaders with the residency member participation info are in the best position to decide what days of the week and how many days make for the most competitive contests for residents. I'm certainly good with whatever the numbers crunched come up to be that will produce optimum member participation.

It would be awesome if we had some races longer than 8.5 furlongs for 3yos other than the championship day in December and Testbarn Derby. Not sure how we could incorporate this into LIL series or if the races would be stand alone, but maybe it would worth a shot if residents are interested.
